I'm somewhat new to Jeeps, I've got a grand cherokee. Seems that there isn't a whole lot for engine mods, just suspension. The engines are pretty much bullet proof and will run forever with good care. A worth while investment would be a lift. You could probably get a 2-3" lift for pretty cheap for the cherokee's.

    www.naxja.org for XJ stuff.

The 4.0 and AW4 are bulletproof. At that age, things that are problem areas are cooling, crank position sensor, neutral speed sensor. None are too major or expensive. The 4.0 will go over 250k no problems. They all leak a bit from the rear main but will keep on keepin on.

Mods depend on what you plan on doing. Lift and tires are always good, but even in stock form they're capable.
