I told a friend from work that i would detail the interior of her sisters 91 civic. She told me it was clean and wouldn't need much but I guesse my version of clean and hers is different. For starter this car smelled like shit, the seats were sticky and there was a fucking fire extinguisher rusted to the floor. So here are some pics fo ya

Four containers full of this shit :barf:

Process was simple Vacuumed what seemed like an eternity
Removed teh front seats and Vacuumed some more
Extracted witha little green machine and some brushes
Deep stains I used a regualr stain remover
Rust spot required a lot of elbow grease
used woollite mix to cleat interior then followed with Mothers Interior protectant

Working on this mat took a while the stain in the corner almost came out

    Rust marks gone

Another shot no rust marks shit took forever to get out

Any time im talking to a client over the phone, getting ready for a detail, and they tell me "oh, the interior is really clean, and it shouldent take you any time at all", i always expect the worst. So far, ive only had ONE instance where the interior was actually as clean as they said it would be. And they asked me not to do it. The rest...dear god. Alot of peoples ideas of "clean" are usually WAY off base.

    Fucking Unbelievable!! :eek3:

    Great work.

Well, i think its getting to the point that i too am going to have to get a LGCM. Especially after seeing results like that.

Im sure her sisters definition of "clean" is a whole lot different now.

Sad thing though...in a year from now, it will look just as shit as it did before you started.

Did a KIA Rio on Thursday. Single mom with 3 kids...It smelled and I felt the same way!!!

    Good work!!!

The Little Green Machine seems to do well for those that can't afford an extractor for now. I use the same unit.

so a bissel "little green machine" did that? we have been pulling the carpet, spraying orange clean on it(from the detail truck that comes around), and then pressure washing the carpet. We can get it as clean as that but the only downfall is the drying time. how long does it take to let the carpet dry?

Same here when I was called out to detail an Astro van a few years ago. "Its really clean, we have it detailed regularly". I figured it would be bad, but I had no idea. Several areas of the carpeting were so crusted with spilled stuff that you could knock on it with your fist and it sounded like you were knocking on wood. And the stench.... :eek4: Turned out her equally filthy kids had stuffed empty juice packets into every single compartment and in every seat pocket and the whole van reeked of fermented juice. :barf:

I spent more than 4 hours on just the interior.

    Oh, and another question...

How much did you charge for that?

I told her that since i would be speding most of my time on the interior it wouldn't be too much around $75. but after that interior and I also did some work on the paint she gets the full bill of $150.:hs:

    As for the drying....

Yes, the Green Machine does not get all the water out. Since I do the interior before I polish and wax the exterior, I crank the car and turn the heater on. I make sure the A/C is on and blowing full steam towards the floor. Crack all windows about a half an inch. DO NOT set the A/C on recirculating. You're wanting to force the damp air out the windows.
