I bought the 8800GTS 640 a couple months ago and I know I have a few weeks left on my EVGA stepup program. Should I step up to the 8800GT and take the monetary loss on it or try to get the re-released 8800GTS 640 when it comes out?

Instead of taking a money hit, why not step up to the 8800gtx?

It may not be as fast as the 8900 series, but it will still be smoking fast.

Possibly, I'll have to see what the stepup cost would be. I mean I'm happy with my 8800GTS 640 but I've heard the new hot shit is the 8800GT and that it actually outperforms my card at a much lower price.

Well it does look like it would be an upgrade to go to the 8800gt in speed,

but I wonder if eVga would consider that an upgrade path?

I've read a few others have done it but I'm just thinking that its like a $150 dollar loss for what I paid which sucks. But an upgrade is an upgrade I guess.

    Very true.

I paid $350 for my eVga 7900GT CO card last may, and it was worth

less than $150 before a year was up because the 8800 series came out.

Fortunately I don't do any computer gaming, so I don't need to upgrade anyway.
