Anybody know how easy it is to use one of those USB wifi adapters (like THIS one) to make your computer into a wireless access point? Bridge the LAN connection to the wireless one?

My dad uses one on his thinkpad. i've never used one, but he had it up and running within 30mins of buying it...seems like a simple wifi card install, just USB.

    1. Set up both network connections separately so they each work.
    2. Select BOTH network connections at the same time and right-click on one of them.
    3. Select Bridge Connections from the menu that appears.

I don't know if it's practical to turn a computer into a WAP, but I do know that you can configure your wireless connection to function as a Peer-to-Peer network and then your other computers can pipe through your WiFi reciever and get to the internet through your wired connection.

Why not just but an actual WAP? They're dirt cheap these days.
