800 vs 1900

    Other than a different wavelength, are there any discernable differences between a call handled on an 800 mhz system versus a 1900 ?

    stronger signal with the 850. it penetrates buildings better

    drawbacks?

    isnt 850 just some digital trickery over the original amps infrastructure?

    850 is more accurate then 1900 and of course it is stronger

    WRONG. haha, I always wanted to say that.

    850 is not stronger so that is not why it penetrates buildings easier. 1900mhz is such a high frequency that any kind of metal beam will break up the signal if towers are not placed in the proper areas to offer service. Since 850mhz is on a lower frequency, the chances of it breaking up after entering a building are slim. The big drawback on 850mhz is that you need to place a couple more towers as its reach is not as great. :cool:
