For some reason my computer is only showing that i have 32mb video memory and I'm supposed to have 64mb, is it possible that I fried half the ram or something. Or am I just being an idiot and can't read.

uhh, those are 32mb cards. The ones for laptops. the 7800 is the 64mb one.

no the 7500 was available in both 32 and 64. And I ordered the 64mb card, I can post the invoice if necessary.

i dunno then. Call ati and give them the serial# on the card. They'll tell you if it's a 32 or 64mb card for sure.

Its in a laptop, so i'd rather not crack it open, it might void my warranty.
But i was reading that correct, right. it shows that I only have a 32mb card.
Here was my original order from dell. I had a problem with my monitor a couple of months ago, and i had to send it back. I'm wondering if they switched video cards on me and gave me a lesser card by mistake.

i'm pretty sure I remember it reading that I had a 64 meg card before though. So i don't know what the fawk happened. I'm wanting a new destop system so maybe i can get a discount on it, or maybe they will upgrade my laptop for cheap. :x: My problem now is how to deal with the non english speaking people to solve the problem or should I just send them an email.

well I called dell and they had me do all the useless tests just to determine that I should send it back. But at least I got an english speaking women the second time I called. So I should get my missing 64 mb card back.

and also somebody on the acura-cl forum had the same problem.

i called dell's spare parts dept, and they didnt not have the model in stock. i ended up buying a used one from Ebay (for about $70). After putting it in, and my video ram was back to 64mb, and the snowy screen problem also ceased to appear.

    hope this helps.
