It runs, but that is about all I know right now. A neighbor of mine is selling it. He turned it over and it took about 10 seconds to start up. Once started there was throttle response in the pedal. I'm thinking about taking a closer look this weekend if he still has it.

What do you guys think about that description? $700 for an XJ Cherokee (4 door, 4x4, w/ cloth seats) that runs. Also, it's stock w/ street tires on it, so I don't think it was beat to shit off-road (which is what i will be doing with it)

thx! i'll try and get some pics of it this weekend!

Sounds like a deal to me.

I6 I take it? Those motors crank longer than most, 10 seconds doesn't seem too out of the ordinary.

You're in Az so rust isn't a worry.

I prefer the 231, more aftermarket upgrades available.

231 slip yoke eliminator allows you to run a bigger shaft.

If you have a 242 you have to hack and then tap it. Its not really a problem because nobody breaks them but still its usually "bigger is better" out in the woods.

damn, if i could find a xj for that price that ran in my area i'd buy it on the spot. $700 in the midwest gets ya 1 with a blown engine or no tranny etc lol

lol @ this old thread from over a year ago! I never did buy that jeep. I inherited a 75 CJ5 w/ the 3 speed and AMC v8 instead. It's sitting in my backyard under a tarp at the moment. It was rolled on the highway about 6 years ago and I got it from a friend of a friend. I can't say I'm proud to not have the thing in better shape!

If it has been sitting for a while that old carb needs to be rebuilt, but it may be fine after a good run. If it has no vacum leaks and it will idle just drive it
