anyone own this thing? I have been reading about it for a while and I took a look at one today at a store attached to a 300d...its not terribly big or heavy...good leans for moderate telephoto?

I advocate buying all lenses based on their reviews, no need to try it for myself :hsughr:

I have one and think it's the sharpest lens I own.
Here's a shot of a friend of mine I took with this lens at F4.0 @200mm

Why the hell yould you stop down for? :ugh2:

You don't buy a f/2.8 lens to use it at f/8, might as well buy a f/8 lens. :ugh:

dude, the 70-200mm f/4 comes stopped down for you from the factory.

it means you'll never have to worry about it accidentally opening up to f/2.8

hahahah...its a lot smaller and about 1/3 the price of the 2.8 and i am definitely not a pro...for use outside i bet its definitely fast enough...maybe a monopod would help too

Here is the shot right out of the camera, only re-sized, no other post processing done and I had the 20D set to Parameter 2 which has all sharpening and saturation set to 0.

It's a great lens, especially for the price. I own one and it is always attached to my camera.

I'm picking up a EF 17-40 f/4L today so that may be the new "always attached" lens but we'll see.
