So we decided to convert my buddies 1997 1/2 ton Suburban from a Automatic to a 6-speed this weekend. We started at 11pm Friday night and less than 24 hours later we had completed the mechanical portion of the install. He still has some cosmetic work to finish up to make it look factory. The end result is pretty badass. It sounds like a camaro going down the street

Agreed. No my truck thou. In the end it ended up being cheaper to do the 6-speed swap than it would have been to rebuild the stock tranny.

Doing your own work and shopping junk yards ownz for shadetree mechnaics :)

Wow, that is weird. I don't know what it would feel like driving a Suburban with a stick. I sort of prefer an automatic in my truck, even though my car is a manual :)

    Props for effort though.

Yes but we didnt want to buy a new one until we got final measurements and can buy one that tall enough and far enough back for easy shifting.

That shift = fucking horrible but it gets the job done

Next up is a set of 4:56, maybe even 4:88 gears to get that bitch off the line :bigthumb:
