a few years back I lifted/bulked for like 8 months. I went from 126-165. I was eating a lot but my lifting wasnt that intense. I gained mostly fat from it. I stopped and went back down to 135 over a few months.

unfourtanetly this is my only "before" shot, taken in march 05: (5'11" 135)

I had like no mass leftover and people started calling me somolian and shit. In april 05 I decided to get back into the game. I decided to lift with more intensity/form/etc. my diet is still eat everything, and focus a lot more on protien intake.

its been like 6 months. the first 4 months were cake. I went from like 135-160 in the first 4. the past couple months i've been going up and down from 165-170 and back down. primarily because i've been working full time and stuff now. and its just way harder now.

    well anyway, onto the pics:
disclaimer: i know because of the lighting its very decieving, its as bright as i could get it in my house/room. on top of the crazy shadow my complexion makes me look a lot bigger. sry.

Whats with the four black dots in the shape of a square at the top and bottom of your back? Tattoo? Birthmark? Steel Plate? :hs:

EDIT: YAY for the EDIT button!! You're making good progress from what I can tell. Its just too bad your before pic wasn't shirtless so you could actually see the extent of your progress.

That's what I'm tryin to do right now, but I'm still at the beginning :wtc:

    5'7" 125 :hsd:

You were saying that you weren't weight lifting with enough intensity, so you built up more fat than muscle, but how much is enough? I work out 3 times a week, Chest/Tris, Back/Shoulders/Biceps, and Lower Body/Abs, and I usually do 3x10, but I'll do a 4th, etc until I can't actually do 10. I do on avg 2-3 exercises per muscle group. I'm focusing on protein with the help of my protein shake/weightgainer formula. What do you think? :x:

i wouldn't go by amount of lifting, just go for quality. and I guess its more about reading your body.

the first 4 months I was going day 1/day 2/day 3/rest/day 4/rest repeat. it worked well for me because I was eating a lot and was jobless. after a while it got to the point where my numbers/strength wasnt going up. on top of that i got a new full time job which forced me to space out my workout. I go 3-4 times a week now and I started gaining again, and my strength has gone up. i look back at it now and realize that i was probably borderline overtraining.

I focus a lot more on compound lifts. like on back/bi day i'll do 4-5 heavy compound lifts first and then maybe 2-3 sets for my biceps depending on how they feel at the end. same with chest/tri.

I think my first time around a few years back, I expected all the foods/supplements to be doing the trick. I wasnt pushing myself hard enough, I didnt have much intensity, my form sucked, etc. now i just pretend everyday is my first day back as 135 lbs
