I started weight training 6 months ago at 125 lbs 5'5'', really fucking skinny. I am 130lbs now, I figure I'm 10-12% bodyfat? Not really sure. Just switched to Pur's routine this week.

EDIT: "Before" picture in post #10. These are all after.

Um. You need pics from different times to be considered progress pics.

And you gained 5lbs in 6months? Did I read that right?

My diet is absolute crap, that's why I haven't made larger gains. I also want to keep a low body fat all the time, instead of bulking and cutting. Even though I only gained 5 lbs, I don't think I gained any fat, I might have even lost some fat.

Whenever someone posts that they gained 30 pounds of muscles in a year, everyone says most people can only gain 10-12 lbs of lean body mass a year. I gained about 5 pounds of muscle in six months and I should be gaining more? Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

You're doing fine. Everyone here is 18% bodyfat and talks about getting lean... keep doing your thing. 10 solid pounds a year on a shitty diet is fine.

I'd say that's doable in a year for a newbie, obviously things will slow down drastically after that

5lbs in 6 months as a newbie is horrible

eat a fuckton, looking at your body type it doesnt look like you are someone that will put on fat hardly at all, pound 3500-4000 calories a day and fucking lift hard and enjoy staying skinny but putting on muscle

thats because everyone here (including myself) goes with the mantra: get fat as fuck while pretending to get big..

Ya the only problem is he looks malnourished... giving up a % or two of leanness in order to look like he isn't starving would do a lot for overall image.

One of my best friends had the same type of physique only 5'9" and 140ish and everytime his abs would start to lose the tiniest bit if definition he'd cut back food intake and do a bunch of cardio... meanwhile he has tons of female friends who loved his personality but wouldn't touch him because he looked like their 'little brother'...

Really up to the TS's goals though i guess...

    Who?

There's a difference between gaining fat on a bulk along with a lot of muscle and just turning into a fattie.

I definitely don't look malnourished. My goals are to put on muscle without putting on too much fat, if I put on 10 lbs of muscle a year, I'll be quite happy with that.

you look like you only get an apple a day bud.......no offense, but just spend 6 months eating everything under the sun and lifting hard, put on a lb a week then cut the fat off while maintaining the muscle....you like being cut, I understand that, but imagine yourself cut WITH muscle

whatever weight is without body fat, sure. This guy is short, so I doubt it'd be much, but there's a bunch of taller guys who have gained 30-50 lbs with no noticable body fat increase
