I woke up at 5:30am this morning. I was hungry and thirsty since I hadn't had water since breakfast the day before and I had only had a tiny chicken breast for lunch. Drove down to Allentown and found William Allen Highschool without too much trouble. And then the moment of truth.. the weigh in.. 217.7... nice. OK now its time to down the pedialyte and cram food down my throat. Ate a bagel, some jerky, some slim jims, etc. Ok feeling good. Blah blah blah... time to bench. I opened with 248... easy lift...moved up to 275.5 for my second attempt... not too hard.. then 281... up....up....slowly...up...up..oh god keep going.... GOOD LIFT! Breaktime... Jason Beck had a seminar in between the bench and deadlift. Ok deadlift time. Warmed up for the wrong flight! oy! whoops oh well... now I just wait. Ok time to grip it and rip it. Opened with 430...easy... moved up to 462.9... got it... moved up to 481.. GOT IT! I was uncontested AGAIN! So I got a medal for the bench and one for the deadlift. Overall I'm very pleased. The meet was run very well and I had a great time. Now its time to kick back and relax for a while since I don't have another meet lined up yet. Oh and since it looked like there was no current single lift deadlift record I might have set a record.. I have to check with the guy who does the records but it'd be nice to be able to say I set a record.. even if I was the first one.

Thanks. I was tempted to go for 500 but I'm glad I went with 485 instead cause I really don't think I had another 15lbs in me.

I hate you, I had to bust my balls a lot longer than a year to get my bench and dead where yours are :p

That makes me feel good. I'm definately aiming for a 500lb dl and 320lb bench for my next meet... if not higher.. all depends on when I find one to train for. I'll be spending July in Italy so thats gonna fuck up my training a bit. When I get this disposable camera developed I'll post up some hilarious pictures of these little kids (sons of a local lifter) who were rocking singlets and wrestling shoes. Funniest kids I have ever seen. They were running around pretending to bench on chairs. One would lie on a chair and the other would give him a handoff.

Yeah if you're naturally good at DLing you can expect big things in the future. Good luck with the next meet, now just get that raw bench up and your shirted bench will take off. What kind of gear are you using at the moment?

    Current Gear:

Titan F6 Bench Shirt - Size 48 - borrowed from my lifting partner. I'll prolly get a 46 when I buy mine since its fairly easy to get on and I'd like something a little bit tigher for competition.

Z-Suit - too lazy to find the size but its rabbit eared and still way loose on me. Works well enough though. I use it to squat and deadlift in. I'll prolly grab a correctly fitting suit int he future.

I really really like titan's shirts and my partners use titan deadlift and squat suits so I'll prolly follow their lead.

As for getting my raw bench up thats a definate thing on my list. I have made good progress in the bench but its going to take work. I won't be touching a shirt or suit until 2-3 weeks out from my next meet (most likely not until I move to Kentucky for an internship in august) and I'll be focusing on bringing my raw squat/bench/dl up.

Yeah I love my Fury but I'm still waiting to hear from some people on how the Metal DLer performs before I go that route.

Your raw DL should be fine, I doubt you're getting a lot from that suit anyway.

Props for a solid meet - 6/6 is a great feeling.

the biggest thing I can say, though you touched on it already, is raw strength. gear shouldnt be in your vocabulary until you are raw benching over 300lbs (though it should be more at your weight). Just keep slamming along.

"raw work builds strength, gear shows strength"
