my 580exII shuts down after only a minute or two of inactivity.

i don't want to completely shut off the power save mode (in the event i stick it in my bag & forgetting to turn it off), but is there any way to extend it to, say, 10 minutes of inactivity before it turns off?

maybe the batteries are going out? I don't remember it doing this before.

    :dunno:

manual doesn't say anything about changing the about of time it takes to auto shut off.. just says it can be 1.5 mins to 15 mins.. probably varies based on battery life

It never bothered me; I just instinctively hit the AF button to reactivate the flash.
