I am a former fatty that went from 214lbs -> 168lbs and now at 174lbs. What should I do now? Do I have enough muscle to cut to 10%? When should I start cutting for summer? help me OT!

If you're not a vagina about fat gain like I am then I would keep adding weight man.

looks like you're holding a decent amount of fat on..i definitely wouldn't cut but i wouldn't want to put on any more fat..

too much arm, not enough chest.

don't worry about bulking or cutting, just keep training hard.

    I would keep cutting.

Because you're a former fatty I would be worried that in an attempt to bulk you might add on too much unwanted fat.

If you're at 173 now, I would say to try and cut down another 10lbs to the lower 160's to get that bodyfat down.... THEN do a clean bulk upto 180 or so.

I've seen a lot of people go from fat to decent... and then try to bulk and end up too fat again. In my experience it's always better to try to get as lean as you reasonably can before a bulk so that your results of the clean bulk are as much LBM as possible.

Anyone who has been lean and bulked can tell you that the leaner you get the less fat you put on whenever you increase your eating.

Certainly not enough muscle to "cut". How long you been training?

Jan 08 - May 08 was when I was worried about losing all my fatness and then I started the Bill Starr or Christopher 5x5 routine until about Sept 08 and now I am following a different routine.

:coold: Made my home gym feel more like a gym instead of the pictures of flowers and stuff that was up beforehand.

True, but most of us are not as phobic of it as you are.

I was down to ~ 10% late last spring and then jumped to 11 or 12% through fall.... It didn't bother me that much because I could eat more, and didn't have to do as much cardio and I had only gained a percent or two. It wasn't until I started bulking recently and couldn't get the gym (holiday shit, sickness, wisdom teeth, etc...) that I really started getting phobic about it.

I was filling out, but not being in the gym as much caught up with me and I jumped another percent or two. I was up near 13 or 14% last week :wtc:
But after being sick and getting my wisdom teeth out I have not been eating much so I dropped some more weight, lol.

I just said fuck it and I am going to start my cut early now... I might as well! I would have to put on another 5-7lbs just to get back where I was (bulk wise) a couple weeks ago.

Cut down slowly for the summer and see what you look like IMO. Even though a lot of the guys here hate on people who don't have much muscle and choose to cut down to low BF%, you get a certain confidence boost from being lean because girls have no idea if you're a ripped manbeast or some skinny kid with abs and arms, they like it

The only people you'll REALLY impress by being a ripped manbeast are other guys like us

true. but in my mind its part of the game and good luck getting to decent LBM without putting some fat on unless you are genetically predisposed to being a freak (ie not me). I would rather be ripped and big in 7-10 years than 20, even if it means I have to be a chubby bear for part of it. To eat his own tho.

You're still quite soft but you also don't have much lbm. I'd just eat very clean, try and still cut slowly. Any cardio?

What'd you look like at 165? any leaner?

I would keep up the cardio, lift heavy and eat very clean. Just see what your body does.

where'd you get that poster? do want!

oh, we went from very similar bw ranges and we're the same height. (225 lbs-168- 177 now) but my initial cut was similar to yours. i would say lean as far as you can then clean bulk. but see if you can try to hit 10 or sub 10% before gaining back.
