Does anyone have this lens on a Canon XXXD or XXD series? Thinking of getting one for my 40D.

I have a 50 f/1.8 for my 30d - Its not wide enough for my everyday use so I don't use it that much. I want to get a 28 f/1.8 soon, but my 24-70 f/2.8 L has quickly become a favorite.

i had one on my 20d and sold it for the above reason.

the 1.4 extreme bokeh novelty factor wore off quickly for me. the 2.8 suits me just fine for what i shoot.

good news is they have good resale. i sold mine on ebay for $270, got it for $300.

I have a 17-55 IS for everyday use, which is getting quite boring actually.. I was thinking a f/1.4 would be fun to play around with, for some macro and candid shooting. I was also checking out the 60mm macro f/2.8 but don't really know what to go with.

I have the 50mm 1.4. It's an epic portrait lens, but not much else.

I'd trade my 50 1.4 for a 28 1.8 any day of the week. I like it and it's sharp as a tack but not nearly wide enough.

I have the 50/1.4 and love it. true, it's not wide enough for much more than portraits, but those portraits are beautiful

I use my 50mm on my Nikon all the time... I like closer cropped images though, so I guess it fits my shooting style.

Plus, I have legs. So I can step backwards....

yeah, good point. Having superpowers does give me an advantage over the rest of you.

So yeah, if you only shoot in 10x10 rooms, and can't walk through walls, I can understand it not being of much use....

    :roflw:

I use the 50mm as a walkaround lens, but all I own is primes and I like to stay inconspicuous. I might be using the 20mm all the time now, just got that
