Just got the canon lens last week. Any feel like it takes too long for it to focus? I was trying to shoot some skateboarders yesterday and I had such hard time getting the thing to focus. I swapped to my 17-70 sigma and it felt like it was so much faster in focusing.

Ive never used it for anything outside the store. I dont actually own one yet. However, try a 50 1.8 and then let us know how you feel ;)

My experience with the 50 1.4 was about the same. It's a great lens but not something I would use for sports.

What camera do you have? I have a 30D and the other day I was trying to take pics of my dogs playing in the yard and I had the same problem.... but I put it on AI Servo and then I didn't have an issue with fast focusing. Give that a try :dunno

Could be. Nikons are better than Canons anyways.

I love this lens.. Lighting fast focusing even in low lighting situations. it can stumble to find a focus point in near darkness but I've rarely had an issue.
