What do you guys think? Should I be worried about negative health effects?
Only the sodium and mercury content should worry you. Other then that, tuna ftw.
I would bump it up to 6
yeah, I don't know the numbers, but that seems a bit excessive, I'd worry about mercury content.
k, so I guess 1 mcg per kg per day is the suggested amount?
6 oz of chunk white tuna has ~53 micrograms of mercury in it. So if you were 53kg, or 120 lbs, 1 can/day would be the max recommended amount.
Am I doing the math right there?
Seriously, there is a thread on this once every 2 weeks.
Other than the sodium, there is no issue.
Canned tuna is generally made from smaller fish or jack that are younger than the larger fish used for steak etc. The mercury content in canned tuna although present (read pregnancy/breast feeding mothers) the average man need not concern themselves.
There have been recent studies supporting mercury levels in canned tuna, but those end up likely being sponsored by Animal Ethic groups.
Pur has stated that he was on 4-6 cans a day and asked his doc regularly to check and nothing has ever showed up except a chuckle.
Ive been on 2-3 cans a day for 3 years now and my blood work is always perfect. Except, I set off metal detectors now.
The only side effect is being fucking swole!
Woah woah. You need to be careful about the tuna. The first signs of mercury poisoning is being attracted to men. Be careful, eating upwards of even three cans of tuna a day, has caused guys to wake up in bath houses with not five black guys, but six. If you are eating five a day, you are near guaranteed to start wearing Armani and Prada exclusively, while watching five hours of E! a day. Tell me is it worth friend, is it worth it?
i hate holding up the line at the airport like that
