I've got a factory EFI 5.0L windsor V8 in my Ford Falcon (I live in Australia). It's the same engine as in early 90's Mustangs correct?
Ford Australia doesn't change the motor, they just shipped them in and slotted them into the cars, same heads, same internals, same everything except the exhaust headers.

Anyway, in Australia, they recommend that they be run with a 20W50 grade oil, but it is my understanding that mustangs with the same engine are supposed to run 10W30 viscosity oil. Is this correct?

20W50 is damn heavy, how hot does it get where you live? That could be why the weight recommendation is different.

43C so about 110F in the shade.
Still, unless you've got an oil cooler, ambient temps wont make much difference to sump temps. It only gets down to about 50F around here.. so it's not like my startup temps are a worry either.

Yeah, it looks like only Pennzoil make a 10W30 full synthetic in Australia.. all the others are synthetic blends. She's been running full syn since I stripped her down.
It's like $48USD for 5.3 quarts in the pennzoil and thats the cheapest i can find.. haha.. damn

    The windsor is a 302 and a 351 (4.9 and 5.8).
It's all in the stroke length.
What sort of engine did you think the 'stang 5.0 was?

most people dont call the 5.0 a windsor becouse the only made on type of 302, the 351 came as a cleveland and a windsor so you hear people say 351 windsor when describing it

okay well in Australia it's called a Windsor.
But anyway, it's a 5.0 and yeah I changed the oil over to Pennzoil 10W30 full synthetic and she's running great.

actually the 302 shouldnt be called a windsor :o

351 is called a windsor because they were made in windsor, canada but the 302's werent :o
