    I've seen it in training.
Worth mentioning that this works both ways. Most people who die of GSW die of shock. You can lose a lot of blood before you start losing hydraulics.
If you ever get shot, get your ass up and get in a gunfight.

Also a good reason to practice your failure to stop drills.
One round in the cranial vault would have him DRT.

if i ever get shot im planning on arguing that my level 2a vest should be a level 3. since my vest cant stop the round i shoot, what good is it?

ive heard rumors that the pelvic girdle is being taught more than the head due to stress causing all of your tactics to go downhill (trigger pull etc) and that by aiming there you have more area to hit

DOJ currently focuses on the cranial vault in the classic failure to stop drill, where you have your weapon at a low ready position at the start.

In a quickdraw, there's some validity into the pelvic girdle, hip region, especially because your shots will likely go high and rise in a snap-shot situation.

My everyday vest is a level 2 with a level 3 trauma plate in the carrier.
(with a spare cuff key, pinch LED, and car key)

Cranial vault is a quicker stop from a semi-calm start, but pelvis is a safer bet in the heat of battle.

And as long as we're talking about pelvis

If you're counting on zipping up a target I suppose thats a different matter.

    Good article Soybomb.

Just the same, I think the determining factor for target area should be the readiness of the officer.
A .40 should be able to break a hip. It seems like structurally, the person would drop.

All I know is, with bandoleer and deep-impact on, no one stands a chance.

    especially if your using martyrdom.

but seriously.. i think a shot to the groin would drop you pretty fast. might not kill you fast, but i think it would hurt like a bitch
