405lbs rack pulls today....figured its ok before I go to the Ortho tomorrow

    and he tells me i have sciatica and a herniated disc and to never lift weights again......amirite?

    He'll tell you to stay away from deadlifts & rack pulls.

    I always feel like the bottom of my spine is going to come out after doing racks, then for 3 days my lower back is killin me. I only do them twice per mo, and rarely go over 405.

    I don't even do rack pulls anymore for that reason, hated the erector death that would ensue

    Try changing your form so you are supporting your spine with the muscles that are maybe half a foot above the very base of your spine. Having strong muscles at the very base of your spine is an excellent indicator of spinal injury.

    its just a bitch training back for me......i cant do wide grip pullups with/without weight because of rotator cuff issues, only chins or neutral grip (which still hurts), so there goes that too.

    Patty [and others] have you considered that maybe, just maybe, all the injuries aren't worth it to be lifting weights and maybe it'd be better to switch to another form of exercise?

    yeah its just my life at this point, if i couldnt train i dont know what the fuck i'd do with myself, and lifting heavy and doing compound movements is just part of it. ill see what they say tomorrow or after the MRI. obviously if i have to stop and do lighter shit then, i guess ill have to deal with it. i cant imagine how 90% of pros or pl'ers dont have these problems

    whats the point of doing rack pulls if you can do deadlifts instead?

    You need to go over 405 to see growth or progress, I don't.
