360 question - too long to put in thread title

    ok so i have a portable 40 gig hard drive. and when i connect it to my 360 it registers and it works fine. but if i put any of my movies on it the 360 doesnt read them. nothing pops up. if i put a picture on the hd, i can see it on my 360. but if i put any of my movies on it. the 360 doesnt "see" any of them. is it some kind of formatting problem? i know computer basics, but im no it genius. i really wanna watch my movie files on my 360 please help!

    It's a file type issue. The only video file that the 360 plays by default is .wmv. You can download converters to change the filetypes of incompatible video to .wmv.
    Either that, or mod your Xbox.

    Yeah same haha. When I first configured my 360 to stream from my PC over the network, I thought it wasn't finding my videos then noticed it only reads WMV because Microsoft = arseholes.

    ah damn. oh well thanks ill try to convert them to wmv. btw before i google it, any free converters just incase i turn up dry?
