    Xbox 360 drive swap/mod crew v.halp

Has anyone successfully done this with a modded drive?

    [y]G5hdC2kx4-Y[/y]

I have a modded Toshiba MS28 DVD drive with a bad laser (doesn't read burned games) and I want to move the PCB board to a new MS28 drive that just I bought. It shouldn't be a problem right? :x: The guy who flashed it lost my original drive key so I think I'm fucked unless I swap the boards?

    One of the comments is
but I want to see if anyone else here has had success..Jesse? Twinsen?

Ok, first of all if the drive is still in working condition you will be able to pull the key from it.

Second, as long as the drive is of the same model you will be able to swap them out without flashing again.

    Yes, it's very simple.

Either use iPrep to read the drive, it'll write the firmware on the dvd drive back onto your USB drive, then you can take it to windows, open it in Jungleflasher and the key is right there.

Or you can just use Jungleflasher for the whole process, read the firmware and it'll show up.

Of if you already have the same type of drive, you might be able to just do it all in iPrep. But then again, Samsungs are a bitch sometimes, so it might be best to do it in JF.

They are both MS28's so :dunno: I haven't flashed a drive before so is it just easier for me to swap the PCB boards? :o I think I need that VIA SATA card to flash?

I think I'm buying a Jasper for $149 (potentially $141 price match) today too anyways for backup :o
