I can feel my 360 heating up like crazy during the past couple of days. I install games to my HD and play them off of there(not sure if this causes less stress/heat on the 360)

is there anyway I can make the fan run faster? I heard the cooling fans that you can buy at the stores mess up the system even more...

how do you guys keep your 360 cool?

lay it on its side and use a laptop cooling fan that plugs into the wall. don't see how that could hurt

The ones that have the pass through port and share the power with the xbox are bad for the system.

odd as this sounds, I think one of the main things that has kept my 2nd xb360 alive for 2 years with almost daily play is that I took 4 post it note pads and set one in each corner of the 360, allowing for about an inch of clearance between the bottom of the 360 and the level of the tv stand it's on. allowing for airflow beneath the system :o

i have mine elevated while not covering the bottom vents :o

mine is going on 2 years now and still runs good :dunno: hell, i even check to see how hot its getting sometimes and the worst ive felt is "warm" :dunno: and theres times ill have it on for 8-12 hours with no problems. while its true that the 360 does have some design flaws which make it prone to rrod's, nothing beats taking proper care of the system :o

it seems that when you lay it on its side (ps3 style) the side that gets hot the most is the right side.
