I was doing a bit of research on the .357SIG round because i'm thinking about buying a Sig P229R DAK in .357SIG and I read that the .357SIG round is not .357, but it's actually .355 but Sig originally started calling it .357 to capitalize on the already famous notariaty of the original .357 Magnum because honestly, who would really ever give ".355 Sig" a second look?

But hey, it's standard issue for the USSS... so it's got to be good, right?

Damn i'm not sure if I should get the 229R DAK in .357SIG or not.

    expensive to shoot.

    /thread

just go with 9mm or .40, dont go with a round that isn't popular enough or cheap enough to shoot..

and they called it .357 sig cuz it was close enough to that dimension and they got the idea from making a .357 type round for autos

I propose we rename .357 to 9mm magnum, .40s&w to 10mm retarded, and .357 mag to .38 even more special.

Georgia Arms has .357SIG ammo for $180 per 1000 rounds which is pretty good and about what i've seen most .40s&w ammo going for. :dunno:

you might be surprised at how many bullets have an actual diameter different from their common name.

If .357 sig is good enough to protect the president, then it's good enough to protect me :bigthumb:.

Just get the .40S&W then you can buy the kit to convert to .357SIG anytime you want down the road. Use the same mags too.

I found someone in Central Florida selling a Sig P229 DAK in .40 for $490 with night sights in "like new" condition. Only thing is that it's a 229 and not a 229R, but no big deal, I don't think I would have used the rail anyways. I ended up buying it and he's going to be in South Florida next week and we're going to finish the transaction then face to face, I can't wait :bigthumb:.

Should I buy a .357sig barrel for it or just stick with .40 for now?

    I'd buy a 9mm barre; before I bought a .357 barrel. But I'd never buy a .357 barrel so ymmv. :big grin:
