And now for the tricky part

    http://www.carfax.com/cfm/FSBO.cfm?report=D1DC9A3BBF51CE6AC5DBC3106304AE0F

    2 owner vehicle
1st owner got in a wreck and had it towed, then sold it

The guy selling it says the damage was only to the rear bumper, and it's completely fixed, no mechanical problems.

I plan on taking it to a mechanic before I buy it (btw if anyone knows a good mechanic in Wichita, KS). But I am still worried about unknown problems, one being how decent of paint was used for the repair, even if it was just cosmetic.

    What does OT think?

I think you should make a decision on your own.

What year? $18k sounds a little high if it was in a wreck.

if the damage was only to the rear bumper, then it wouldn't have needed to be towed. And if it was just the rear bumper, the original owner wouldn't have sold it afterwards. And if it was just the rear bumper, why did the car have 2 owners in 20K miles?

You shouldn't take it just to a mechanic, take it to a bodyshop too. They'll be able to tell you if there was any repairs etc, and if there was frame damage.

Personally I'd avoid it, if it's such a great deal, why has the car been for sale since 5/26 without being bought. My guess is that there are a lot more problems with it, than meets the eye

I'd avoid it, smells too fishy

    NO

    its not exactly cheap either

a 370z is only 30k, id expect a crashed 350 to be far less then 18

Too easy to find that car for close to the same price that hasn't been wrecked. Keep looking. 350Z's are everywhere

Yeah, I told the guy yesterday I wasn't buying it. But I have had trouble finding similiarly priced for as good of a deal in the midwest, that hasn't been in a wreck or wasn't a rental or fleet. Best I have found so far with a clean record is a touring 2007 in Austin TX for $23K with 33K miles.

look at the rear bumper, gas door, side skirts etc...on lighter colors (especially metallics) they don't match perfectly even from the factory....Toyota's are even worse.

That sounds pretty reasonable. You should look into a GTO, 2006. They cost between $15,000-$20,000 depending but the $20,000 ones are sitting on show room floors. So I wouldn't expect them to be more expensive in other places. Nice 6.0L LS2 with a 5 speed is pretty tempting.

eh, 2 owners in 21,000 miles seems fishy to me. Something isnt right with the car, especially given the fact that it was in a wreck of some sort.

    :ugh:

The Z is a true coupe sport car.

The pontiac has a back seat and a bigger trunk and a more comfortable suspension. If your deffinition of DD is no room and a leg braking ride buy a go-kart instead of a Z. You'll be much more satisfied.
