Does this intrigue anybody else? It's been mentioned here and I confirmed it with a little googling that the GMC Canyon will get a V8 next year. The Hummer H3 is getting the 5.3, so the GMC will probably get it too, but even the base 4.8 is no slouch in a small pick-up. GMC's base 4.8 Liter = 295 HP SAE @ 5,600 rpm; 305 ft lb @ 4,800 rpm. The next step up is the 5.3 liter which = 320 HP SAE @ 5,300 rpm; 340 ft lb @ 4,200 rpm. From the factory a 2wd standard or extended cab will be a pretty quick little dude. Since there's no real engineering hurdle to overcome in order to jerk the 5.3 and replace it with any other LSx SBC, how long before we see a 505 horse GMC Canyon? Am I the only one that thinks a $20,000, ~300 horse, 2wd pickup is worth looking at?
