    considerations:
9mm, .40 or .45. common handgun loads please. nothing like 10mm, 9x18, etc
    new or used, doesnt matter
polymer and metal framed, doesnt matter
NO GLOCKS (i wish i loved glocks, but the grip angle is too extreme for my shooting. its a personal thing, so lay off the flames)
    autoloader, no revolvers
gonna be used mostly as a range bitch. and i suppose home defense.

    im looking at a new/used Ruger P89 or P95 and maybe a cz75

anything else in the price range and considerations i should be looking at?

$350 will get you just about any used s&w metal framed 3rd generation gun you want. They're built well, have a nice short reset, and are reliable no frills service weapons.

CZ or save up a little bit more money, another $50 or so you could get one of the low end 1911's.

Well since the glock is out, for that price range just about any 40cal Ruger would do. But firearms are a highly personal choice, the best thing to do is try as many pistols as you can. Most people are more then happy to let you try thier firearms at the range if you ask kindly. Buy whatever feels best to you, and happy shooting ;]
