Sounds like something designed to be built into a wall of a room. Definitely not standalone.

While I was googling the Fostex, I came across a reference to Audiobahn's 34" woofer.
I didn't find a spec sheet on it, but it apparently will run into infrasonic with just 21 cubic feet.
Bigger woofer and smaller box than the Fostex.

    • Polylaminate Cone
    • Sand-Cast Aluminium Frame
    • Heat-Resistant Voice Coil
    • Kapton Bobbin
    • Rear-Vented Pole Piece
    • Large Ferrite Magnet
    • 1000 Watts Maximum Music Power[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]
[*]The 32" SRW8000 Subwoofer is the first speaker of its size made specifically for use in a vehicle. It uses a sand-cast aluminium frame for strength and a Kapton voice coil for high power handling. It also has a bumped and vented pole piece for extra cone excursion and improved heat dissipation. The SRW8000 handles over 1000 watts of power!

Probably the first speaker to kill it's owner, too.

The school I went to had a amphitheater room with a 30" sub mounted below in the floor/subframe.

when car audio mag reviewed it, he basically said it would've been easier to fiberglass a refrigerator carton than build one, b/c that's how much airspace it needed.
