yeah yesterday i took a few pictures.. wasn't expecting anything much.. but when i took the pic and it previewed on the LCD screen.. i was like HOLY SHIT.. cause 2.5" is A LOT bigger than the one on the 20D.. even though it may only seem like an inch or so.. it makes a BIG difference.

Even compared with modern bodies, there's very little 'wrong' with my D30....so long as you keep the ISO down it's very clean....the files, at least the RAWs scale very well...I've made 11x14's with them without any issue whatsoever.

It's also bigger and more solidly built than anything canon makes now short of a 5...and the fact that my copy has been pounded on since early 2000 and still looks and works as new says something too.

And compared with what was available in the digital realm in 2000.... well ask Derrict.

D30 > n00bs. I shoot with mine all the time and no one other than the gearheads I shoot next to at events has a clue my body is anything but brand new. My clients certainly can't tell since I know how to use it, know its weaknesses and what not.

There are better bodies now..no doubt. And I'll probably get one at some point...but there's nothing wrong with a D30...even in 2006.

    the d30 is the shit

knowing how to get the most out of a d30 > auto mode on 30d

So lets see, I've had the:

    D30
    retail 3000
    purchased at 2600
    sold for 325
    lost 2275

    D60
    retail 2200
    purchased for 2000
still have, would sell for 500
    lost 1700

    10D
    retail 1500
    purchased for 1225
    sold for 775
    lost 450

    1DII
    retail 4500
    bought for 3400
still have, would sell for 3000
    lost 400

    1vhs
    retail 2000
    bought for 900
    sold for 650

Nah, give a n00b a 1Ds-II and a $5K glass budget and they still won't out shoot me.
