    AR10s never work.

    Get a Remington 700.

For semi-auto .308 in that price range I'd be looking at a DS Arms FAL or Fulton M1A/M14 build.

AR10 would be pretty low on the list. If I wanted higher powered AR style weapon I'd probably look at an AR15 chambered for 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC.

I had the chance to shoot the M24, and I would say the M700 is a great gun to start with in .308. Its not the same as a fully modified M24, but you can make it better with different barrels and stocks, lighter trigger jobs and a good mildot scope.

I have a Remington 700P LTR, good for the accuracy department in .308, but next i want to get a PTR 91 or some other .308 battle rifle.

I never saw the appeal to FN FAL's

I'd second the Remmy 700 pss then get a new stock and a good scope, you'll be in that price range and good to go for a while.

Then if you really get into it, get a new barrel and trigger job and you can shoot out to 1000 pretty well

I knew what drew me to them and that was price.

$450 one could screw himself together a pretty nice, dependable, accurate "assault rifle".

After that it just became an addiction.

You'd be better off finding a used 700 and replacing the barrel, stock, getting a new trigger/trigger work then buying a PSS and just replacing the stock :hsughno: If I had money I'd be doing this exact thing right now :o

I just picked up a PSS and am in the process of customizing it. This will be my medium range rifle. For 1000 yards and beyond, I'm going to get another Remmy in .300WM
