the "calories burned" isnt really accurate on those cardio machines. however, feeling bummed out and in soreness after the workout is the great part.

1000 calories an hour on the elliptical :hsugh:

then again I guess it depends on resistance settings/slope settings, intensity, and overall body weight

Show me again where I said 100 calories/hour. It's more like 6-700 for me.

I ignore what the treadmill says and just calculate it to 100 calories per mile. That's supposedly on a flat surface for a 150lb person. I just stick to it though whether on an incline or not.

So on a treadmill... go by 125 calories per mile. Though don't apply the same to the cross trainer. If you're tryin gto lose weight its better to underestimate how much you burn anyway.

how much of an effect (not weight) will building muscle have on my fat? more or less than cardio?

I feel like the gym part isn't hard, but the eating right part sucks :wtc:

if you have a treadmill at home, place it in your living room and whenever you watch tv, make sure you walking the entire time your watching tv.

im sure that can add onto your cals from cardio if you watch a lot of tv
