Buds Gun shop has 30-06 rifles at decent prices. I've heard good things about all 3 makes.

Which do you prefer? The marlin is especially appealing at $290 shipped.

    Used Stevens 200/Howa ??

Might be easy to find. I've never even seen a Mossberg or Marlin bolt gun, but I've never heard anyone sing their praises either.

Someone here was selling a 30-06 Savage for under $300 IIRC, do a search for it if you can.

I have a Savage 110 in 30-06, no real complaints about it. If I was buying a 30-06 bolt gun again I'd go remy or savage.

Marlin or Savage, if Remington isn't an option.

The Savage will probably be more accurate than the Remington, I don't know anything about the new Marlin rifles.

Stock vs Stock the Savage is better then the Remy, but if you want to put some money into either one, the Rem has alot of potential and more aftermarket options.

You just using this as a deer rifle?

Check out a 243 or a 7/08. Would do everything the 30-06 would do, fly flatter, and have less recoil.

    Just saying....

Then the 30-06 is definitely not for you. Too much recoil for meh ballistics. For hunting purposes, the 30-06 is more than you need for any game in the US.
