Just a few weeks after a plateau breakthrough, went in for my final set and sort of thought 'fuck, this might not end up well' and of course it didnt and I tweaked my back. It wasn't a horrible pain, but i knew it when it happened. I wasn't in major pain so I finished the day out. I knew I'd have to go light for a week or two. But now it's almost been a month in the pain is still there.

Lower back. Feel it on back day and on squats. Really pisses me off, fucks up my lifts and I've had to go down a lot of weight and can't get to any sort of intensity.

The fuck should I do besides man up? I don't want to fuck this up any more than it is. Been thinking about one of those back brace things, but that's not going to help with this current problem. Advil doesn't do shit. The pain isnt' constant, but I can feel it during the day when walking and shit.

If it is seriously aggravating you go to a doctor. It's not worth it to try to tough out a real injury.

What kind of doctor should I go to?

my health insurance is in transition right now because the company is switching providers or some shit, so it may be another 2 weeks before I can get in.

Unfortuantely, we live in a country where you have to be referred to a specialist by a general practitioner. So instead of going to a doctor you ultimately will end up with/receive treatment from, you have to go in circles wasting time and money to pad the wallets of insurance and hospital administrators.

Don't foam roll your low back.

    - brisk walking
    - work hip, ankle, and t-spine mobility
    - work on glute activation/strengthening
    - strengthen your core with exercises that involve stabilizing the spine
    - train your lower body with lunges and split squats

its pretty damn unlikely a primary care physician would even need or consider referring him to a specialist. Back pain is one the top 10 reasons people go to their PCP. 60% of back pain gets better in 8 weeks, and 80% in 12 weeks with no treatment at all (hence why chiropracs stay in business). Bed rest is no longer recommended, either. He should continue regular everyday activity, take it easy lifting (esp involved muscle groups), and take NSAIDS as needed. If after 3 months its still there, or he gets numbness, tingling, urinary or fecal incontinence, then he should go see an MD stat

Never said I was. Reading back I guess you're right not everyone has had the experience I had with my primary doc but it seems like he didn't want to deal with anything and told me to see someone else. I am going off of my medical history.

everyone's experiences are different so don't tell me to fuck off. :wavey:

i've been to many different doctors before for many different injuries/issues and have never had to deal with a referral once in my life. i just call up, set up an appointment, and go.

To get a better understanding of what he's saying, I recommend you read this article.

    http://ericcressey.com/newsletter134html

To sum it up, basically there are a shitload of different problems that you probably have, and just because you're able to fix it enough to bring you below the pain threshold doesn't mean you're anywhere close to actually addressing the problem. In most cases, rest alone is enough to bring you below the pain threshold, but obviously just rest and NSAIDs is not going to prevent reinjury.

I primarily spent two years in high school doing this for a private office. Major waste of time and money on patients' behalf.

    MOTHER FUCKER

Back was all good. Has been since I started 5/3/1 nearly 4 weeks ago. Then fucking last night I did something again. It was my Deadlift day but the deads felt fine, great even. I was doing lowish (95lb) weight goodmornings and my back started to hurt so I didn't complete the set. By the time I got home I could feel it in my lower back. lower right hand side.

I reallly really really really fucking do not want to deal with this AGAIN for another six mother fucking weeks. what the fuck man?
