3 weeks in, doing pur's routine, eating 1800cal/day. 220 down to 217, kind of discouraging only 1lb per week.

    220lb 2-5-08

    3-1-08 217lbs

not much one for logs, keep track of the weight i lift in my head. Seems like i've been able to lift more though. I always go as hard as I can go and if i hit 12 reps then i bump up the weight.

Did you really just post progress pics after 3 weeks and 3lbs of weight loss?

Keep a log, no matter how good you think you are at remembering.

Wait a lot longer than 3 weeks before you see big results. Check your diet and I do suggest a food log as well.

Work harder. It took you a while to get where you're at, it will take a while to change that. Anyone who says they lost 10lbs in a week is either lying, eating raw pork & rancid tuna fish, or just lost water weight.

    It takes time. Work hard.

Yeah, not to be an asshole but:

You are very overweight with a very high % body fat. That simply isn't going to come off overnight.

All you should care about is losing fat, not water weight, glycogen or even your bowel contents. People who say "I lost 10lbs in a week" are talking crap. Hell, I could gain 8lbs in the same day just by weighing myself in the morning vs at night. Even losing 1lb of actual fat tissue a week is a pretty good effort if you can sustain it.

After 1yr you could lose 52lbs of pure fat.. a MASSIVE improvement.

If you can bump up the rate of fat loss to 1.5lbs per week (with that extra bit of effort - a clean diet, 10 mins more cardio per day), that's a HUGE 78lbs of fat lost in a year. A complete body transformation.

See what I mean? It takes TIME, but the results will be worth it. The sustainable effort is what counts the most. Anyone can crash diet, lose 10-15lbs quickly. But the majority will pile it straight back on. You need to stay in this for the long haul if you want to make a real, long lasting change.

3 weeks and 3 lbs is fine.. when you are obese/noob, like you are, you'll undergo body recomposition, rather than just pure fat loss or pure muscle gain. ignore the scale for now, go by the mirror.

you're most likely gaining muscle at a rapid rate (dont get used to this) and this is largely offsetting your fat loss, as far as pure poundage is concerned.

well i'm not a total noob, its just been about 3 years out of the routine, obese yes lol. I'm definatly putting on muscle because i can lift more than when i started. I suppose if you were to assume i put on 2lbs of muscle then my fat loss would be 5lbs which for 3 weeks sounds just about right vs the amount of calories i'm allotting.

its just hard to keep motivated when you look in the mirror and still see a fucking fat dude.

exactly. not to mention increased glycogen and ability to store water in larger muscles. attribute more LBM to your minimal poundage loss.
