I posted this in the main as well, but I didn't want you guys to miss it.

Steve is a good friend of mine and it was very good to see this. He's a tough dude who's always taken fights above his head and never had any really good/consistent training...he got choked out by Jason Von Flue recently in front of his home town crowd, so it was nice to see him back on top a little bit.

This was at Pure Combat in Visalia, CA.

    Heres the vid:

wow, your friend didn;t even get his name mentioned in the sherdog article. they even left him off the results at the end of the article. gayness :(

congrats to your friend, looks like he's only lost to game opponents and steamrolls everyone else.

Yeah, he doesn't really get any respect from the promoters/mma community around here, Jeff Sherwood included. He was one of the early local stars of the WEC when it first launched in Lemoore, but he was basically a street brawler back then...no bjj, no wrestling, trained boxing occasionally but was never very technical. He started fighting guys with some real technical skills and he started to lose. He rag dolled Rudiger before he got armbarred.

He's not smart about the way he deals with promoters, and as a result he couldn't get a fight for a long time. Our mutual friend and former training partner Mike Cook (the guy that got choked by Bobby Lashley after wearing the Luchador mask) has some sway with these guys (pure combat), and he helped Steve get in.

He usually does...if you see in the video he touched gloves when he first walked up for the refs instructions. When the ref said "touch gloves" after the instructions, he was already backing up...it wasn't an intentional slight.

He had a bunch of fights in the early WEC and I think he was on some of the HDNet broadcasts. Other than that he's only fought locally...gladiator challenge, pure combat.
