So after a winter off, I had my first track session at the start of June .. it was horrible, i sucked so bad ... I even tucked the front end at the end of the day. I was trying to stay on pace as if it were Oct. of last year, but I was on a new bike and had put almost no miles on this year, so I was rusty.

Well I went back for my 2nd session couple weeks later and after the morning session things started to click again, and I was finally feeling good about my riding and just working on being smooth around the track again.

Here are some pic from the day (thanks to my gf for taking the pics!):

Next day is July 28th, and I can't wait. I need to get off street tires though and get me DOT race tires, which is just the next step for my bike becoming track only.

the track for me is the only place I reallyhave fun riding .. the street is ok ... but I get bored and frustrated quickly.

yeah, i'm working on my upperbody position alittle more everytime ... my attempt to just chagne it drastically resulted in my not feeling great on the bike, like I was hanging off of it ... slow incremental changes ... (=

Woo hoo, looks like you're having a blast! Have you tried picking up any books to help you out? What track are you at? What tires are you looking into?

no, i haven't read anything to help me out, just ask my racer friends to follow me and give me tips. Just work on one thing at a time.

The track is up in Loudon, NH at New Hampshire International Speedway

edwin, glad you are coming back up for the 28th!!

I'm not a fan of those tires. They squish around a bit too much for me...

    I've run the regular (DOT/STREET) 207s and 208s before.

I have a set of 208-GPAs that I got for my trackdays but have yet to mount. I'm up in the air on whether or not I want to keep them because a buddy wants to trade me a set of Pilot Powers for them. I really want to try out the Powers on the track...

The GPA's will be great for the track, can't knock them in the least. I'm a personal fan of pilot power race's though so to each their own. About two months ago RoadRacingWorld ran an incredible story on tire comparisons if you're really wanting to read up on the matter. Overall those two sets scored top honors. Good luck, have fun, and stay safe.

Has dunlop came out with the american gpa's, with the accompanying cheaper price? Or are yours british?

Yeah, I read that same article. It was kinda messed up though cuz the GPAs should not have been in the street tire category. Not really fair to the others. They also rated the M1s as being next to last which I don't agree with. I've ridden alot of miles on those and really liked them. For the money, I don't think they can be beat.

I dunno if Dunlop has released the american GPAs... I picked mine up at the beginning of this year and didn't really pay attention to where they were made.

M1s are a great street tire and track tire (for first couple track days anyway) ...

i'm looking forward to moving to DOT race tires, street tires are just heating up way too much and get greesy

Edwards looks like he has a death grip on the bars. Nakano looks like he is going to fall off the bike. Xaus likes to drag elbow. Rossi and Gibernau have opposite styles. I think that's one of the reasons why I like motorcycle racing so much.
