****2nd hard drive HELP***

    i have a 2nd hard drive and i need to make it a slave to the 1st one, can anyone give me insturctions or have some good links?!

  2. All drives, even optical ones, have jumpers. They should be adjecent to your IDE pins like [::|:] <--- could be Master or Slave, depending on manufacturer.

    The diagram/illustration on the label itself will list it for you. Just change the pin accordingly. You can also refer to the manufacturer's website for details.

    etc..

    example for a Western Digital Cavier IDE P-ATA drive.

    thanks for the reply, i only have 1 jumper for the 2 hard drives, and also do i use 1 ide cable for both hard drives or plug a seperate IDE cable into the slave hard drive?

    get a cable that has two connectors, read the labels on teh cable and see which one i master or slave. plug in accordingly. set the jumper on the slave disk to "CS".
