I'm looking for significant differences to help me decide which one to buy.
    Any help appreciated.

the best value AMD card out at the moment is the 9800 pro 128. You can get it online for under $200 new.

No point in paying $70 for an extra 128mb which even the 2004 games aren't going to take advantage of, but if you have the money and don't care you might as well go for the XT

If you are keen on spending your money get a Radeon X800 XT

Really? well i wanted to be able to run HL2 and doom3 well whenever they finally come out.

Would a 128mb 9800pro perform the same as the 256mb counterpart?

The games that are out now don't utilize that much memory on any video card. The gpu is the most important part of your card. Some of the 256 mb 9800 pros that are out now are underclocked XTs. They use the same gpu but they aren't clocked as high and they use a differant bios. If you get one and it clocks to 9800 XT speeds with overclocking software then you can most likely flash the bios to make it into an XT. If you aren't comfortable with it that's risky, though. If you're thinking about picking up a 9800 XT then I agree with b-166. Get yourself an x800 pro or XT.

    Thx for you help guys.
I plan on waiting until they release the x800 so prices drop on their other cards anyway.
