    I was at the state fair the other day and this guy was promoting Cal-Fitness. He said it's normally $60/mo and they were offering it through the fair at $50/mo. I told him that I get 24 Hr Fitness for $12/mo and he laughed and said "well you get what you pay for".

    I've been at a lot of gyms and 24 seems to have everything I want :dunno: Kinda crowded at times and they have some gay policies (no chalk) but for $12/mo I can't see any real tangible benefit to paying 4x that for Cal-Fit :dunno:

    The more expensive gyms are generally less crowded and cleaner. Have towel & locker service. Sometimes free classes and free wifi . Sometimes better equipment etc..

    I'm so happy that I switched to Bally instead of 24... it's actually a smaller gym with only one location in the city but it's cleaner, less crowded, and the people there are friendlier and eager to work in and spot, etc.

    Can't say the same for Bally in SJ locations, but Alemany is the shit. SSF is pretty cool too.

    i don't think any gym can pull me away with what i'm paying for 24 unless they come in cheaper... but i don't think that's possible unless it's a free membership...

    i couldn't give a damn about luxuries like wifi or towel service. the gym should just be get in, lift, get out. even though 24 is pretty gay and so are the majority of the gym goers there, you can get what you want done at a pretty unbeatable price. crowds are never really an issue if you a) don't go between 5-7, and b) avoid the machines and stick primarily to compound exercises. hell, even during peak hours, just doing B will usually allow you to get your workout done quickly and efficiently. in the last 2 years, no matter what time i came (including peak hours), i can probably count the number of times i had to wait for the squat rack

    I just switched from Calfit to 24hr.

    Calfit = 69.99/mo
    24hr was $300 for 2 years.

    do the math.

    Calfit has DBs up to 100, most 24hrs i've been to have up 120-150lbs.

    Calfit closes at 12am Mon-Thurs, 11pm Fri, 10pm Sat, 9pm Sun.
    24hrs = 24hrs a day.

    pretty obvious choice.

    Combined a family and friends sign up with a $300 up front for 2 years deal. Once the pre-paid two years was up it converted over to $50/year.
