On my 24-70, I've noticed a weird grinding sound when zooming from 24mm back to 70mm. There's also a little more resistance between 24-50mm. It's buttery smooth from 70-24 though.

Canon Service Center said it was fine ( :hsugh: ) but that mechanical grinding sound still makes me a little skeptical. Is this fairly normal or should I bring it back in to Canon?

Grinding - not something I experience.

The resistance you feel, I experience the same. Any grinding noises would make me quiver though. Not good.
