should i? :eek5: local on craigslist is selling one for $1000, date code UW03 so prod date is 03/08, and was purchased new in may of '09

    :noes: :run:

i really want to get the 70-200 2.8 first, but this is a pretty good deal as far as i've seen :dunno:

there's one in the local CL bundled with a 40D for 1475 CAD

UX date code on lens, says both were rarely used

if i flip the 40D for like, 600, am I getting a good deal :noes:

 i think i should... :hmm:

i really should get a flash though...but playing with this kit lens for the last week -- it's nice; fairly sharp, and has a big zoom range...but i like fast lenses, and this one is slow. :hs:

 the samples ive seen are pretty incredible. I really dont like that hte 17-40 is kinda slow.

ugggghhhhh if i get this 24-70 itll put off my 70-200 until after new years...or i could buy this older 70-200 2.8IS from some dude semi-local for ~1400

decisions.. get the awesome 24-70 and keep the kit lens and use it for my tele in the meantime, since it goes to 135 (~216 on a crop)

honestly for what i shoot im better served with the 24-70 and a good wide...but when i shoot some sports for my brother's sons' baseball team, or for event candids, i like the reach

Do it :big grin: I contacted the guy but I might pull out :hs: it was an impulse thing. Good thing the banks aren't open tomorrow and I won't be able to pull out that much money :p. I'm meeting up with someone to pick up my battery grip tomorrow though :coold:

I heard the 24-105 f/4 is much sharper than the 24-70...

the only thing that puts me off is that i really want the 70-200 2.8 Is first...but after much thought today, the 24-70 will likely stay on about 70-80% of the time, so i might as well upgrade my general-purpose lens rather than get a tele that ill only use about 20-25% of the time when i (casually) shoot sports.
