Got the chance to shoot with a canon 24-70 f/2.8L a few weeks ago and fell in love. I have to have it. My question is - after using the canon, will the Sigma counterpart not live up to my expectations? Anybody here owned both? Which did you prefer? Was the sigma good for the price?

    Images from each?

The tamron is way better than the sigma. I've tried the sigma... it sucks.

So it was as sharp as L series glass and as sharp as a prime?

I've used the EX Non-DG, the DG, and the MACRO version of Sigma's 24-70 and none were even as sharp as the Tamron 28-75, let alone a prime. I hope you still have your Sigma because that has to be the sharpest Sigma ever made!

    Canon > Tamron > Sigma
I'd get the old Canon 28-70L before the 3rd parties though
