Millions of accessories for it too. I think a 10/22 might be my next project.

I'd skip the Remmy 597; not as many upgrades, parts aren't available EVERYWHERE. Not to mention, I don' think 100 round mags are available for the 597 either.

Not everyone buys a rifle to upgrade though :dunno:

I'd rather have a Remington 504 anyway, I thought about buying one but at that price I'd prefer to save some more and get an Anschutz.

Yeah, I'll eventually have one of those, too, but for a beginner, an Anschutz is a bit more than I, personally, would start out with. I have 3 .22's and have owned several others. In the estimated 7 that I've owned, the 10/22 is, hands down, the most versitile .22 on the market.

Remington 512 with the trigger set at right under an Oz, integrally suppressed, with a really crappy pistol scope. It can hit .22 shells at 20+ yards every single time.
With all that said, get a 10/22 Target, free float the barrel and you're good to go.

I wasn't really recommending an Anschutz, just stating that I want one badly :hs:

    10/22 is the most popular.

Mine was the first gun I bought when I hit 18. It still goes to the range everytime unless I'm going to an indoor range...which I rarely do.
