Trying to figure out what monitor to get, originally wanted to go with a 22", then I'm leaning towards a 24", the two in question are the this and this.

I wanted to go with a 22" first, but then I read that 1680 x 1050 is native to the a 20" monitor, so then I started looking into 24". Two reasons I'm doubting going for the 24" is the price and the size (will it be too big?).

    I then read that 1680 x 1050 won't make a difference on a 20" or 22" monitor.

    Any advice?

i would focus on the budget and needs first. that will dictate the size of the monitor.

there are plenty of cheap panels out there that may be good for you, may not be good for your needs.

If you are a aggressive gamer I would go with the 22" you posted.

If you are a casual gamer, web surfer, pic viewer, movie maker, anything else computer user I would go with the 24" you posted.

I do a lot of photo editing and will be doing video creation.

I'll be writing plenty of code also.

you're going to want to use a S-IPS panel then. video editing won't require it, but should benefit from it.

text looks good across the board.

get the biggest ips lcd you can afford.

Way too expensive for me! I wish I could afford one, I'd be stretching to get the 24".

a 23'' might do you good... but really go for an IPS panel

    definitely 24 over 22.

I wish I went 30 up front. And don't skimp on the panel if youre doing serious photowork with it.

When in doubt, always go with the biggest one you can because you won't regret the size. I got a 22" and wished it was a 24"

I'm a part of "I own a 22 but wish I bought a 24" crew :hs: I do a lot of gaming, photo/video editing and web design so it's hard for me to find a panel that will allow me to do all of these things at 24" that isnt expensive
