that 6x6 is pretty hardcore, lol

    gasoline or diesel? dont care?

is gas mileage an issue for you?

how flexible is the 20k price tag? are you dropping cash or financing?

a lot of people like different trucks for different reasons, some like fords, some dodge, some chevy and so on.

if i was in your position id just take a day or 2 and go test drive everything i could and see what fits you and your budget the best

as far as reliability goes someone else is bound to chime in, i dont want to say anything as i dont have all that much experience with trucks

Nissan Titan. I bought a used Titan back in 05 for $21,000. It was an 04 LE. Totally loaded with 8k miles. You really couldn't ask for a better truck. Sadly I totaled it about 2 months ago lol.

maybe spend a little more and get an FJ Cruiser? I guess I'm biased because I just got one. I'm a GM fan. I have 2 f bodies now, and have daily driven S-15 Jimmys for about 8 years. After 3 months of my FJ, I wonder why I haven't considered foreign before.

The ride is better, its more sure-footed on the road. It goes offroad very well. Plus, I routinely tow 3 ton trailers with it with NO problem. Plus, the 6 speed makes it kinda fun! :)

I recommend a diesel, but i usually only recommend a diesel to someone that knows about them, and could take care of one. Otherwise get a gasser. Get a fullsize if you're going to tow. Yeah mid size trucks will do it, but fullsize trucks just make it much easier.

Tacoma or late-build 2007 FJ, if you can find one for $20k.

20k can get you a nice used Chevy. I just got rid of my 95. 180k miles on a 5.0 liter v8. beat the balls off it daily and it seemed to run better every day.

    General Motors FTW.

So you've seen a truck with a 40k plus sticker price sell brand new for 21k...
I'm having a really hard time believing that.

Interesting to get the perspective of someone who grew up (so to speak) driving domestic trucks.

he drove s-dimes. that is NOT a good truck for comparision. Go drive a 2007 Sierra and you will be enlightened.

The Xterra > FJ... better pricing, and a much better engine.

look in the sunday paper. 21k for V8 Nissan Titan Crew Cabs on a regular basis. If you paid 40k just to get leather and shit, you're an idiot.

:werd: My last Silvy had 100k+ on it and it was awesome! My third silvy was not a good experience and I kept it less then 20k. Barely 100k on it, never driven hard and the dealership couldn't get head gaskets to stay in it longer then 400 miles for a long time.

maybe a warped head or something. or they were putting them back together without cleaning the surfaces... a number of things could have caused that. And after the first time, the dealer mechanics were probably at fault.

at least it wasnt like my dads 05 f250 super duty. damn transmission blew up 3 times before hitting 40k. we got rid of that and he went to a pontiac grand prix GXP recognizing that GM is where its at.

    back to trucks.

i think the toyota and nissan trucks are a little small inside, but i am 6'7-8 so leg room is hard to come by for me.

I LOVE the new GM trucks. they are badasssss. when they start putting the diesel motors in half tons in 2009 ill be all over them.
