Ming has the 20D right now, as I guess I've mentioned before. I have finally convinced her of the benefits to shooting RAW+JPEG, so she has tried to implement it.

However, she says in the menu under "quality" she only sees six options, and they are the JPEG options... that is (Large/Fine, Large/Normal, Medium/Fine, Medium Normal, Small/Fine, Small/Normal)... nowhere does she see "RAW+JPEG(Large/Fine)" which is what she wants.

    Help? :x:

I just looked at that menu, mine has alot more than 6 options.

Ask her what firmware it has.

Ohh, and you can change the button in the middle of the wheel to quality.

    Two things:
    1) Neither she nor I am experienced in processing RAW files yet, however I have convinced her that sometimes it'd be nice to have the option.
    2) AFAIK she's been shooting in "M" all the time because it's a requirement for the class she's been taking; but I just learned that apparently if you're in "Auto" then RAW+JPEG isn't an option. I'm having her check this now.

2 is correct. The auto modes will not do that.

Raw processing is easy. Use DPP, or adobe lightroom.

  6. it's shapes

    it should say

    RAW + (quarter circle) L

  7. if she doesn't know how to process raw files tell her not to shoot raw, it will just fill up her mamory :naughty: card quick!

    On a side note.

I forgot that you could change that in the back screen menu.

I only ever use format, and the custom function menu back there.

    :nono: I don't do that.

There honestly isn't anything I use in the menu. It always stays on format, unless I need to change something in the cfn menu. :dunno:

try lightroom for proccessing raw, its a bit easier to get use to.

you have to be in P, AV, TV, or M for raw + speg.

there are very few reasons to shoot both.

I do for weddings, but its for a very specialized reason, just edits of a few jpegs to make a on the spot slideshow. and they are jpeg s. then the raws are worked on later.

Yah. I DLed the 11mb Lightroom beta and I'm diggin' it. :coold:

I told her to shoot in JPEG+RAW, then delete the RAW files for pictures she doesn't like and archive the RAW files for ones she DOES. She emails me all her pictures for PP work anyway. lol So if she mails me RAW files then I have more to work with. Gmail FTW here. ;)

    Also:  @ .speg

It must be the superior format though. I'm guessing SmartyPants Expert Group? :dunno:

Raw is only available in the Creative Zone (P, Tv, Av, M, A-DEP)

in the Basic Zone it won't be listed as an option
