i installed a new 200GB hard drive and it only shows up as 133GB
anything i can do about this?
Your motherboard doens't support drives larger than 137GB... you need to either, partition the drive so that there are no partitions larger than 133GB ..
or purchase a PCI IDE controller card that supports drives that size
you may not also have the IDE driver installed. you may want to check up on that...
could also need a bios update.
Check the dirver first. I had the same problem.
I had the same type of problem with two 120 gig drives, my computer only reads them as 111gigs each.
thats because they ARE only 111gbs each..
As a marketing gimmick, HDD manufacturers use a dfferent measuring standard where a Gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 bytes rather than 1,073,741,824 bytes which is what the OS uses to calculate the drive size. The result is you think you have lost space that never existed.
Beat me to it
I always thought my 60gb hd was only 57gb because god hates me
I figured as much, I still got them for mad cheap so I don't really care heh.
that did the trick
48-bit LBA addressing owns youuuuuuuuuuuuuu
