It eats the SRT-10 for a snack before breakfast. Ford GT vs ZR1 FTMFW. My money is on the ZR1, though. I just want to watch them battle it out.

Consider this, GM's performance numbers are usually lower than what a typical owner can achieve stock. A stock corvette with stock tires has already ran a best of 10.981 at 128.9mph, GM official figures has the ZO6 as a 11.7sec quarter mile car. Also notice that GM released the top speed of 205mph when the car has already achieved a best of 208mph.

    Official Z06 spec:
Quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.7 seconds at 125 mph

    Official ZR1 spec:
Quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.3 seconds at 131 mph

its RWD so its unlikely it can put the power down. I'm surprised its much faster than the Z06 at all. But no doubt, these things will easily be in the 10's.

AWD 'vett with this much power, if executed properly, would be unbeleivably amazing.

Our Big 3 need to look towards more AWD systems. A lot of the fastest exotics and supercars are AWD.

    Such as?

    Feaari Enzo = RWD
    CCX = RWD
    Carrera GT = RWD
    Ford GT = RWD
SSC Ultimate Aero TT = RWD
    Koenigsegg CCR = RWD
    McLaren F1 = RWD

The benifits of 4WD has been exagerated, their main benifit has been in it's take off (0-60) however this has created many sacrifices. Porsche and Lamborg

buggati veyron and audi r8 are both awd.... I think awd, when properly executed can be benefitial -- but it's not always best.

first episode of last season's topgear they took some supercars in search of the ultimate driving road, and they commented how noticably helpful awd was in the real-world.

This is because few magazines seem to point out the location of their tests. Temperatures and distance from sea level are huge factors-that run you linked is from a track at damn near sea level during the winter, not that it makes it any less amazing :bigthumb:. That said, it would be awesome to see what a ZR1 would run at a sea level track in cold weather.

Bugatti Veyron is super expensive and heavy, not ideal for a proper race. The Audi R8 isnt regarded as a true super exotic supercar.

Porsche and Lambo decided to change from a 4WD to a RWD in their top of the line cars, obviously they have a very valid reason.

Fifth gear also compared 4WD, RWD, and FWD, they ended up picking the RWD test car.

Better yet 10.5 at 133mph in capable hands............beaten by the Enzo at 136mph but still the price difference is astounding.

RWD is better for drag racing.

Corvette ZR1 testing alongside the 2010 Acura NSX. Do those look like antennas attached to the corvette wheels?

It might not be able to put the power down in 1st or 2nd gears, but when you get into the higher ratios, the more powerful engine is able to come closer to the tires' adhesion limits than would a less-powerful engine. It might not be faster off the line, but once it gets moving, it will be able to accelerate faster than pretty much anything else.

I'll be interested to see what the new NSX is like. It won't be a GT-R, but the GT-R isn't really Honda's style anyway.

Yeah, their valid reason is marketing. Lighter is better, funner (sic) is better, and AWD is percieved by a lot of people who aren't Jap-import fans as being the pansy's way out of learning how to drive properly. See below.

So here's the question: did Top Gear pick the RWD version because it's better, or because they like it more -- and did Porsche know they'd like it more?
