I went to subaru to test drive a used legacy gt, and it was...uninspired. Didnt really enjoy it. Then I saw the WRX and thought that its subdued look really wasn't bad. Not anywhere near a luxury or premium car, but it looked fine, and had what I wanted. Test drove a 5spd and man that thing pulls. 25k ish for the base for a 2010 model. Really liked the awd system, tested it out in the snow in the back lot.

Now, what other cars am I able to get that are 20-25k? Used A4, TL-S, some older 335i with high miles, etc etc. What should I look into?

How old of a car are you willing to look at? The 2010 WRX is one of the best new cars in the price range. The power and handling changes are dramatic from the earlier cars.

my mainconcern is reliability. I don't drive all too much, but want a car to last me at least 5 years

Might be able to get a G8 at that price.

I can't stand the way the new wrx looks, I'd much rather spend the money on an 04-05 sti.

It should do that just fine, my 9-2x (wrx) has almost 80k on the clock (dp/up/flash since ~50k) and it has been perfect.

I would say a used S4, but that wouldn't exactly be reliable :o

A G8 is super performance?

An '05 sti won't be unreliable, not that I told him to get one I said that is what I would spend my money on.

    For <$25k you'll probably be looking at is250's and 06/07 TL's.

    the 2010 WRX > *

you are not getting a premium 5 door hatch for 25 though. The sticker is like 28-29 for a fully loaded with premium package WRX.

    what

I absolutely love my 07 STi. The AWD is killer in weather and throw some snow tires on it and its unstoppable. I've been able to come and go as i please in this fucking snowpocolypse we've had in maryland/dc.

A new WRX would last you 5 years no problem.

Is a premium brand worth it?

you better plan on putting snow tires on that WRX if you get it. The dunlop sports that come stock are not good in the snow at all. With a set of snow tires the car is an animal in the snow.
