I wouldnt kick it out of my garage
1) Does "L" stand for long or luxury?
2) With 8 frickin' speeds why not just go to a CVT? That gear box has to weigh a LOT.
MB uses a 7 speed auto in their ML.
CVT kills any type of performance too.
I thought 7-speeds was pretty crazy too.
Why does the CVT kill performance? I suppose it's tuned to keep the engine operating at a certain RPM.
Theoretically you could have a CVT set up to operate at two different (read: selectable) RPM ranges, one for fuel economy and one for pure performance. You could default it to fuel economy mode with a button for "Sport" mode.
That would be a nice car for me if I were a 54 year old businessman
Also that interior would be good to have sex in.
We have one on our Murano and its slow.. and look at the Caliber R/T with the CVT.. it runs 10 something to 60...
for performance its a step down, I could see it more for driving around town and economy, but you do give up performance
i don't think CVT's are strong enough yet to handle that much power.
and i don't think they kill performance. if it didn't help, it would not have been developed. the whole purpose of a CVT is to allow the engine to opperate at its optimal speed while accelerating.
i just read an article about it in the new motor trend, maybe car and driver. pretty impressive
How many performance cars have CVT. They are built for a smooth ride and economy, trust me my Murano would be a lot faster with the tranny from my maxima
I was reading the new Road & Track yesterday. Apparently the new Maxima is only going to be available with one choice of transmission for 2007, CVT.
I would need a driver for that.
They use it in the C class, too.
that thing is supposed to be able to park itself as well
once u pull forward past a parking spot (normally when parallel parking)
the bumper cameras will look at the two cars on either side and draw out where you want the car to go eventually you can adjust those and then the car takes over and does the rest its a slower process then just backing in yourself....
to me its one of those features thats 'cool to have' but thats because i consider myself a good parallel parker!
Are those ac vents under the front passenger seat?
i give it a few months after that thing is released till my dad has one in his garage. at that point i will be joining the family for trips again... and home cooking.. i miss that so bad
so im assuming its a 8 speed auto? i think you might lose track of what gear your in otherwise.
The new S-Class does that too, for reverse. It's pretty nuts.
The new lexus 8 speed weighs less and has less parts than the previous 6 speed on the LS430.
and they are vents under the front seats
I would love the chance to even just test drive it.
i just fuckin hate how lexus doesn't bother to add side moldings to theirs cars (IS also). It makes the car look so plain from a side view. At least mercedes has that part done right
i like the g35 front end.
wtf are you smoking
